ISBN 0-9531742-3-9

Greasy Ocker is the gritty story of two young canal boatmen fated to continue the feud that has separated their families for generations.  One boatman struggles on trying to make an honest living at a time when canal trade was in decline. The other leaves the boats to take to a life of crime with a vicious London gangster. Eventually, fate conspires to involve both men in a spectacular robbery that brings the family vendetta to a violent conclusion.
Greasy Ocker is set on the canals of London and the Black Country and also in the sleazy underworld of London and Birmingham.
Derek Pratt has been associated with inland waterways ever since a happy fluke took him at the age of 16 on a job-opportunity to assist in the photographing of canal scenes.  As a leading waterways photographer, his wanderings along Britain’s towpaths have accumulated the collection of photographs that form his Waterways Photo Library. He has written and illustrated several books on inland waterways, the most recent being books on canal architecture and London’s canals.
Derek Pratt writes and illustrates a regular monthly feature in Canal Boat and Inland Waterways magazine. He lives in west London with his wife, Janet, and three cats!
